George Best made his debut for Manchester United in 1963 at the age of 17. One of the most skilful players ever seen, Best was the master of dribbling and shooting. His brilliance on the wing provided United with flair, excitement and glamour. With Best in the side, Manchester United won two league titles and the 1968 European Cup. His performance in United's 5-1 win away to Benfica in 1966 was one of the greatest in the history of the competition as he tormented the Portugese defence.
Best scored in the 1968 European Cup Final win over Benfica and was subsequently named European Footballer of the Year. Best left United in 1974 and never reached anything like his peak again. He played 37 times for Northern Ireland.
