Zinedine Zidane

An incredibly skilful creative midfielder who can finish strongly both in the air and on the ground, can dribble and pass brilliantly. Zidane began his career at Cannes and then Bordeaux before moving in 1996 to Juventus. In Turin he won the Italian championship in 1997 and 1998. In 2001 he moved to Real Madrid for a massive £47 million. His fantastic volleyed goal helped Real to the 2002 European Cup and they went on to win the Spanish league title a year later.

With France, Zidane scored twice in the 1998 World Cup Final as they beat Brazil 3-0 in the final and he also helped his country win the 2000 European Championship.

Zidane was voted European Footballer of the Year in 1998 and World Footballer of the Year in 1998, 2000 and 2003.
